GETTING HERE
On the western side of the kloof
Where we are
Speekhout is the fifth farm on the western side of the kloof, after Uitspan, Makkedaat, Cedar Falls and Duiwekloof. It's about 17 km from the start of the Nuwekloof Pass on the R332 gravel road. Sedans can make it if you drive slowly. Pack tyre plugs and tools, and ask us for up-to-date road directions.
From Willowmore
About 55 km. Willowmore is on the N9 between Graaff-Reinet and George.
From Uniondale & George
About 82 km from Uniondale on the N9 from George, via the Vaalwater road.
From Gqeberha (PE) & Patensie
From Gqeberha it's about 4 hours via the R75 and R329 past Steytlerville, onto the N9. Through the reserve from Patensie takes about 8 hours, 4x4 only, with R100 per person payable in cash at the gate. We're about 50 km from the reserve's west gate.
Travelling with dogs?
Pets are not allowed through the nature reserve gates, so the route from Patensie through the reserve is closed to you. Come in from the western side via Willowmore or Uniondale, or ask us about the alternative routes from Kareedouw and Gqeberha when you book.
