THE BEST DEEP DUNK
The cement dam
Our irrigation dam is the best deep dunk on the farm. It also waters the pecan nut trees, so cool off, float a while and take in the mountains around you.

THINGS TO DO
Hike, swim, spot eagles, find ancient rock art. Or do nothing at all.
SLOW DAYS ON THE FARM
Quietude, clear air, sweet water, magnificent mountain views and a million stars at night. Most guests find the days fill themselves.
WATER ON THE FARM
When the kloof heats up, there are two places to cool off.
THE BEST DEEP DUNK
Our irrigation dam is the best deep dunk on the farm. It also waters the pecan nut trees, so cool off, float a while and take in the mountains around you.

PURE FOUNTAIN WATER
Filled with pure fountain water and shaded by big old trees. Swim, sit on the bank with a book, or stay for the evening light on the cliffs.

HIKING TRAILS ON THE FARM
All our trails are marked on our trail app.
Download it before you arrive, as there's no signal in the kloof.
CLIMB TO THE TOP
Hike to the top of the farm's conglomerate rock formation for wide views over the mountains and all the way down the kloof.
AN EASIER WALK
A gentler walk with views of an old Willowmore cedar. If you're feeling brave, scramble along the rocky "back" itself.
STEEP & DEMANDING
The old cattle trail climbs steeply to the top of the farm's mountain and links up with Orrelpype. A proper workout, with views to match.

The farm borders the Baviaans Nature Reserve, so wildlife moves freely across the land. Ask us for our farm bird list before you arrive.

The farm holds rare, ancient San rock paintings. We're happy to arrange a guided visit on request, so just ask when you book.
After good rains, seasonal waterfalls and rivers come alive across the kloof. It's well worth a walk to see them.
GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY
Help feed the animals in the morning and at sundown, bottle-feed the lambs in season, or hop on for a tractor ride.
On request, join a creative workshop and use natural materials from the land to make art or crafts to take home.
Plant a tree with Mark, prune invasive bush or pull a few weeds, and see the restoration up close.
Help us restore the farm, and we'll take 25% off your stay.
Quiet season only, not over long weekends, school holidays or public holidays. Ask us for the plant list and the current dates.

Pop in at the new ECPTA interpretive centre to learn more about the Baviaanskloof and its nature reserve.
Further afield: horse rides at Duiwekloof next door, 4x4 routes on neighbouring farms, a coffee shop about 18 km away and the reserve's west gate about 50 km on. Ask us for a map of the 200 km kloof. Mountain bikers and motorbikers love it too. Drones are welcome with our permission.
PLAN YOUR DAYS IN THE KLOOF
Ask us about trails, rock art visits or the Green Hearts & Hands special.
We'll help you plan your stay.
