R60 PER DOG PER DAY · FREE AT KUDU BUSH CAMP
Dog-friendly stays
Bring the whole family. Trails, splash pools and plenty of open space.
DOG PARENTS, PLEASE TAKE NOTE
Your dogs are welcome here
Our cottages are fenced and our trails are open to well-behaved dogs. We share the farm with free-roaming sheep and cattle, so a few house rules keep everyone happy.
Before you come
Make sure your dogs are up to date with vaccinations and deworming. Tell us what breed and size they are. Each unit suits two medium dogs best. The Tree House has a flight of stairs that is open at the back.
What to bring
Bring your dog's own covers for our beds, plus their bedding, cushions and bowls. Our beds and chairs are for other guests too. Please pack a poop scoop and bags. There is a large black bin outside each unit, and over the fence is not okay.
On the farm
Dogs may join you on all our trails and farm roads, as long as they are under your control. They may not hunt or chase our sheep, cattle or springbok. Livestock damage starts at R2,000 per sheep. Please keep garden gates closed, and no excessive barking, day or night.
Please don't leave them behind
Locking dogs inside the unit while you are out is not allowed, unless there is an emergency. If that happens, let us know straight away.
Splash pools
The splash pools hold fresh, untreated fountain water that later goes onto the garden, so you and your dogs can both enjoy them. Ask us first if you would like a pool topped up. We need to keep our water tanks full.
Our dogs and the wild ones
We have three friendly dogs of our own, which stay in the farmhouse camp. Other guests may bring dogs too, since we share roads and trails. Baboons, monkeys and snakes do visit, so keep an eye on your dogs and tell us if you see any.
GETTING HERE WITH DOGS
Not through the reserve
Pets are not allowed through the ECPTA Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve from either gate, Patensie in the east or the west gate. There are two other ways in. A proper 4x4 trail with off-road tyres runs from Kareedouw on the R62 to Rus & Vrede Farm on the R332. Contact Chris Lamprecht on 073 232 8932 for fees. The easier, scenic route comes from Gqeberha via Steytlerville. Ask us and we will send you directions.
On arrival: reception is at the farmhouse gate. Please keep your dogs in the car for now. You are five minutes from checking in. Park in the shade, a little away from the gate, because our dogs will bark when they see yours. Once you are settled, we will pop in to see how you are doing.
If something goes wrong
Let us know at once about any emergency. If your dog has diarrhoea, tell us as soon as you can. We keep medicine for it and need to stop it spreading. Our vet is Dr Glen Carlisle in Oudtshoorn: 044 272 3076, or 083 701 1367 for emergencies.
Cleaning fee
We keep high cleaning standards for every guest. If a unit needs more than the usual clean after you leave, we may ask for an extra cleaning fee, worked out at one adult's rate per day of your stay. Please don't be offended. We love helping you enjoy your stay with your dogs.
BRINGING YOUR DOGS?
Tell us who's coming
